Full-time ministry has its challenges

August 26th, 2010

Dedicating your life to full-time pastoral ministry can have it’s challenges, according to an August 23 article by Ivey DeJesus in the Patriot-News. Eldon Fry, college pastor, agrees. Fry, who spent years staffing a private pastoral care help line, has many stories about overworked, stressed pastors whose families were on the brink of breaking apart. But, Fry, like other pastors, agrees that the calling to ministry is sacred and God is faithful.

Caution necessary when dealing with mediums and psychics

January 15th, 2008

The proliferation of psychics, spiritualists, and mediums on television and the Internet warrant a note of caution, according to Campus Pastor Eldon Fry in a recent interview with the “Harrisburg Patriot-News” for a Jan. 15 article about spiritualists living in and visiting the midstate. “The cautionary note,” he says, “comes in that we aren’t allowing what is very real and authentic in our seeking to set us up for something that leads us down a dark path into something destructive.”

Read “The spiritual realm: Midstaters tap mediums for guidance, connection.” (Please note: Fry’s comments are not included in the online version of this story.)
