About “The Good Doctor”
Originally written by playwright Neil Simon and debuted on Broadway in 1973, “The Good Doctor” entertains its audience by presenting a light and comical show highlighting the work of an unnamed writer who appears to represent the famous author, Anton Chekhov.  After experiencing continual writer’s block, frustration becomes unbearable for the discouraged writer, and so, in an attempt to stir his abilities, he begins to narrate several of his own short stories to the audience.  Some stories are humorous such as “The Sneeze” in which a government clerk experiences paranoia after sneezing on a general.  Other stories are more solemn, such as “A Defenseless Creature” in which a woman with a nervous disorder goes to great lengths to extort money for her injured husband.  Featuring great variety and a comical touch, this play promises nonstop entertainment for its audience.
