Messiah College theatre department presents C.S. Lewis’s classic tale, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2017) — The Messiah College Department of Theatre and Dance presents C.S. Lewis’s classic tale, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,” dramatized by Joseph Robinette and directed by Messiah’s Associate Professor of Theatre Daniel Inouye. Show times are 7 p.m. Feb. 2-4 and 9-11, and 3 p.m. on Feb. 5 and 12. The performances will be held in Miller Theatre in the Climenhaga Building. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for students and children under 12. To purchase a ticket, either visit messiah.edu/tickets or contact the Messiah College Ticket Office at 717-691-6036. Pastor and Historian Dr. Monte Hampton presents his lecture “Science and Religion with a Southern Accent: Scripture, Science, and Southern Identity in the Shadow of the Civil War”

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Jan. 23, 2017) — On March 22, Dr. Monte Hampton will present
“Science and Religion with a Southern Accent: Scripture, Science, and Southern Identity in the Shadow of the Civil War” at 7 p.m. The lecture will be held in Hostetter Chapel. Dr. Hampton will discuss the Southern culture’s crisis about modernity as they grappled with the nature of scientific and religious knowledge and how to relate to them in the shadow of the Civil War and reconstruction. This free lecture is sponsored by Messiah College Ministries and The Central Pennsylvania Forum for Religion and Science. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edward Larson speaks on Darwinism, human evolution and the supernatural soul

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Jan. 23, 2017) — On Feb. 27, Dr. Edward J. Larson will present
“Darwinism and the Victorian Soul” at 7 p.m. The lecture will be held in Hostetter Chapel. Dr. Larson, both a historian and legal scholar, offers a historical perspective on how scientists and others have accepted evolution without rejecting the idea of a supernatural soul. This free lecture is hosted by The Central Pennsylvania Forum for Religion and Science, the Messiah College Honors Program, and the Department of History.
