MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2017) — The Messiah College Department of Theatre and Dance presents C.S. Lewis’s classic tale, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,” dramatized by Joseph Robinette and directed by Messiah’s Associate Professor of Theatre Daniel Inouye. Show times are 7 p.m. Feb. 2-4 and 9-11, and 3 p.m. on Feb. 5 and 12. The performances will be held in Miller Theatre in the Climenhaga Building. “Science and Religion with a Southern Accent: Scripture, Science, and Southern Identity in the Shadow of the Civil War” at 7 p.m. The lecture will be held in Hostetter Chapel. Dr. Hampton will discuss the Southern culture’s crisis about modernity as they grappled with the nature of scientific and religious knowledge and how to relate to them in the shadow of the Civil War and reconstruction. “Darwinism and the Victorian Soul” at 7 p.m. The lecture will be held in Hostetter Chapel. Dr. Larson, both a historian and legal scholar, offers a historical perspective on how scientists and others have accepted evolution without rejecting the idea of a supernatural soul.
