Messiah College professor to lecture on Fulbright Fellowship experience in Cyprus

January 29th, 2013

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 29, 2013) — Messiah College educator Michael Cosby, professor of New Testament and Greek, spent four months in Cyprus on a senior Fulbright research grant studying Barnabas, the Cypriot mentor of the apostle Paul. Cosby will talk about his experience and findings at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12 in Parmer Cinema in Boyer Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.

By exploring ancient texts and interviewing Cypriots, Cosby discovered how Barnabas, an innovative peacemaker in the New Testament, became a symbol of Greek Cypriot nationalism after centuries of turmoil and political intrigue.
