About Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play
Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play, a band comprised of versatile musicians Peter “Madcat” Ruth, Joel Brown and Chris Brubeck, hold onto roots that date back nearly 40 years. In 1969, Ruth and Brubeck began touring as young rock musicians under the name “New Heavenly Blue.” Brubeck went on to form Crofut & Brubeck, a unique, banjo-driven band that featured Brown on guitar. In 1999, Brubeck united with Ruth and Brown to form Triple Play, a trio that has developed a national following. Paul deBarros, writer for the Seattle Times, described Triple Play as a band with “good-time rhythm, unbridled joy and the sweet release but bittersweet aftertaste of the blues.” The band most recently produced “Live at Arthur Zankel Music Center,” which debuted in early 2012.

About the Cultural Series
The Cultural Series is a public, four-part annual performance series sponsored by Messiah College. The final performance in the 2012-13 season features pianist Christopher O’Riley on April 17.
