Messiah College makes the Journal of Artists Books list of Places to Study Book Arts

The Journal of Artists’ Books, the premier journal about artists’ books, published out of Columbia College, Chicago, lists only nine bachelor’s programs as “Places to Study the Book Arts.” Messiah College is listed with other such fabulous arts programs as: MICA: Maryland Institute of College of Art, Otis College of Art and Design, Purchase College of Art and Design – SUNY, Scripps College, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago!

Messiah accounting alums earn four spots on local Forty Under 40 list

 The Central Penn Business Journal released its annual list of the “Top 40 under 40” business leaders in the central Pennsylvania region. As is becoming a tradition, Messiah College business alumni were well represented on this distinguished list by: Jeremy M. Allen ’99 of Walz, Deihm, Geisenberger, Bucklen & Tennis, P.C.; Michael D. Hoffner ’97of McKonly & Asbury, LLP; Andrew L. Steckbeck ’94 of Simon Lever LLP; and Eric R. Wenger ’99 of Reinsel Kuntz Lesher LLP.

U.S. News & World Report ranks Messiah the fifth Best Regional College in the North, top ten Great Schools, Great Price and among the best undergraduate engineering programs

Each year, “U.S. News & World Report” releases its rankings of college and universities nationwide. The rankings are designed to be a starting point for students and their families in their college search.

This year Messiah ranked well on several lists, including fifth among “Best Regional Colleges in the North” and sixth among “Great Schools, Great Price.”

Also, for the first time, Messiah College ranked among the “Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs,” a list comprised of nearly 200 colleges and universities recommended by their peers  (i.e. other college presidents, academic deans and enrollment officers) for their outstanding engineering program. Messiah ranked 98th on this list.

Messiah College named Best in the Northeast by Princeton Review

 Messiah College is one of the best colleges in the Northeast according to the nationally known education services company, The Princeton Review.  It is one of 220 institutions The Princeton Review recommends in its “Best in the Northeast” section of its website feature, “2012 Best Colleges: Region by Region,” that posted August 1 on PrincetonReview.com.

Messiah accounting students receive three of 40 scholarships offered by Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants

 Once again Messiah’s accounting students have been very successful in being selected for Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) scholarships. This spring the PICPA awarded 40 scholarships to Pennsylvania accounting students, and three Messiah College students were selected: Alanna Sweester, Brent Sensinig, and Isaac Won. Only Villanova students received more (four). One other school received three – Penn State University.

Messiah College earns placement on Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

Trustee Kim Smith recognized as Woman of Influence in central Pennsylvania

May 16th, 2011

Kim Smith, secretary of Messiah College’s board of trustees and attorney/partner with Hartman Underhill & Brubaker LLP, is being recognized as a woman of influence by Central Penn Business Journal at a May 16 luncheon.

 Messiah College President Kim Phipps and alumna Debra Pierson `89 received this honor in 2010.

Messiah College registered dietitian examination pass rate is in the 96th percentile nationally

Over the past 5 years, Messiah Nutrition and Dietetics graduates who have been accepted to and completed accredited dietetic internships have achieved a 100% pass rate on the national registered dietician exam.  Congratulations to these alumni!

Academic paper by professor Nance McCown about business relationship management earns recognition from Public Relations Society of America

Nance McCown, professor of communication, received the Top Faculty Paper Award for her paper, “Intersections and Overlaps: Building Leader-Employee Relationships through Internal Public Relations, Leadership Style, and Workplace Spirituality.”

Messiah College honored by World Affairs Council of Harrisburg for its role as a founding member

The World Affairs Council of Harrisburg, an organization dedicated to educating and engaging residents in the greater Harrisburg area about global issues recently recognized Messiah College and the Harrisburg Institute for their commitments to furthering the mission of the Council.

Harrisburg University, Keystone Human Services, Elizabethtown College, Harsco, and the International House were also recognized.
