GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 26, 2008) – The Messiah College Concert Choir will present a concert on April 13 at 3 p.m. at Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, 300 E. Simpson St., Mechanicsburg. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the church at (717) 697-0351.

About the Concert Choir
The 50-voice choir, directed by Linda Tedford, director of choral activities at Messiah College, is selected by audition from a student body of nearly 2,800. The choir has toured the East Coast, including performances at the National Cathedral and the United Nations. International tours have included Ireland, Austria and the Czech Republic. The concert at Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church is their final concert this season and will feature a variety of repertoire, including classic selections such as Mendelssohn’s “There Shall A Star,” Bach’s “Break Forth O Beauteous Light,” Viadana’s “Exultate Justi” and Josquin Des Prez’s “El Grillo.” Also featured will be original works and hymn and folk song arrangements by American composers such as Vincent Persichetti, Gilbert Martin, Rene Clausen, Mack Wilberg and Moses Hogan.

Also performing in the concert will be the Messiah College Chamber Singers, a select ensemble chosen from the Concert Choir. The Chamber Singers have been selected by audition to perform at the prestigious PA Music Educators National Convention held in April in Hershey.

The Concert Choir has just released its sixth CD, “Like a River,” featuring sacred repertoire and folk songs.

About the director
Tedford also directs the Messiah College Choral Arts Society, a college and community choir; the Men’s Ensemble; and the Chamber Singers. In addition, she teaches conducting and voice. She is the founder and conductor of the nationally recognized Susquehanna Chorale and is responsible for creating the chorale’s educational outreach network of choirs: the Susquehanna Youth, Young Women’s and the Children’s Chorales, based in Hershey.
