Messiah College music department to present December concerts

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Nov. 21, 2011)—The Messiah College department of music will present multiple concerts throughout December featuring a variety of musical ensembles and styles. For more information, contact the music department at 717-766-2511, ext. 3310.

Concert highlights
Dec. 4, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The Messiah College Christmas Concert, featuring the Concert Choir, Men’s Ensemble, Women’s Ensemble, Chamber Singers, Handbells and Brass Quintet will perform twice. The first concert will be held at 4 p.m. in St. Lawrence Chapel located at 110 State Street, Harrisburg. Admission is free, but a $10 donation is suggested. The second performance will take place at 8 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel. Tickets for the performance at Messiah College are $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and $3 for students and children. Tickets can be ordered by calling the ticket office at 717-691-6036.

Dec. 8, 8 p.m.
Messiah College Jazz Fusion will present a concert in Poorman Recital Hall, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

Dec. 10, 3:30 p.m.
A concert featuring the Messiah College Guitar Ensembles and the Mechanicsburg Middle School Guitar Ensemble will take place in Hostetter Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

Dec. 11, 3 p.m.
The Messiah College United Voices of Praise will present a concert in Hostetter Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

Dec. 11, 7 p.m.
Messiah College Musica Nova will present a concert in Poorman Recital Hall, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

The department of music at Messiah College is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The department offers majors in music and music education with concentrations in church music, performance, composition, commercial music and arts management. Through a variety of junior and senior recitals and choral and instrumental ensembles, students gain performing experience both on- and off-campus.
