Messiah College department of music closes out the semester by showcasing vocal and instrumental talent in May concerts

 GRANTHAM, Pa. (April 11, 2011) — The Messiah College department of music will present several concerts in May, showcasing an array of musical ensembles and styles.  All concerts are free and open to the public. For more information, contact the music department at 717-766-2511, ext. 3310.

Concert highlights
May 1, 3 p.m.
The President’s Concert featuring the Messiah College Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds will be held in Miller Auditorium, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center. Each ensemble will perform individually, and the concert ends with a collaborative piece by both ensembles. Tickets are required and are available through the ticket office at 717-691-6036.

May 2, 8 p.m.
Messiah College Studio Ensembles and Brass Choir will be held in Miller Auditorium, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center.

May 3, 7 p.m.
The Messiah College music department will present Musica Nova, a concert featuring compositions by Messiah College’s student composers, including classical, chamber and contemporary works. The concert will take place in Poorman Recital Hall, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center.

The department of music at Messiah College is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The department offers majors in music and music education with concentrations in church music, performance, composition, commercial music and arts management as well as a master of music in conducting. Through a variety of junior and senior recitals and choral and instrumental ensembles, students gain performing experience both on- and off-campus.
