Messiah College sponsors peace and conflict conference with keynote speakers Catherine Keller and William Cavanaugh

GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 26, 2010) — Messiah College’s Peace and Conflict Studies Program is sponsoring a conference in conjunction with the Society for Continental Philosophy and Theology, “The Politics of Peace,” at Messiah College on April 16 and 17. There will be nine speakers, including Catherine Keller and William Cavanaugh, both well-known theologians. Attendees can register online at http://www.scptonline.org. The cost to attend is $65 before April 2 and $85 after April 2. Additionally, the banquet on Saturday night is optional and costs $50. About Catherine Keller
Keller is a process theologian who mainly focuses on feminist and gender studies, metaphorical, biblical and literary readings, process and poststructuralist philosophies and ecological and social justice. Keller began her education overseas by studying theology in Heidelberg, Germany. She then obtained a master of divinity degree from the Eden Seminary and received her doctorate degree in process theology from Claremont Graduate School. Keller is currently a professor of constructive theology in the theological and graduate schools of Drew University.

About William Cavanaugh
Cavanaugh earned his bachelor’s degree in theology from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated with the highest honors. He also holds a master’s degree in theology and religious studies from Cambridge University in England and a doctorate degree in religion from Duke University. He is currently the associate professor of theology at the University of St. Thomas.
