Ambassador Social Media Policy

In light of the recent commentary taking place through social media regarding the propane shortage, the Admissions Office is implementing a social media policy for the Ambassador program, effective immediately. This policy is similar to the social media policy drafted by the campus administration and set in place for Messiah College Employees.

AMBASSADOR SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY:

Messiah College recognizes that social media is a relevant means of communication that is worthy of ambassadors’ thoughtful, purposeful engagement to promote the College and its people, programs and priorities. Ambassadors are encouraged to utilize social media in a way that supports the work and mission of Messiah College and are reminded that all content they create is expected to reflect the ethical, moral and professional standards of Messiah College.

While we are no in way limiting your use of social media, Messiah College expects Ambassadors to use respectful communication and sound professional judgment that represents the College well. Please keep in mind that everything posted in social media is instantly and permanently public. Harassment of the College and/or the campus administration will not be tolerated in this program.

We have not specifically seen that any Ambassadors posted inappropriate comments regarding this situation on Facebook or Twitter. However, in an effort to be proactive, we wanted to set a clear policy now. Please feel free to talk with Tim, Rachel or Heather if you have any comments, questions, or concerns.
