This summer, our two student lab technicians, Harley and Jake, spent 12 weeks working full time to improve the Messiah University cyber lab and range. They upgraded all three servers and ten workstations, installed a new firewall and network switch, and built a secure, reliable network to support the cybersecurity program.
Along the way, they deployed new services, created a web portal with single sign-on for student access to lab systems, and developed hands-on lab activities.
The photos include our new cyber lab in Frey 166, which will be fully configured and ready for students this fall.
Their work not only strengthened our infrastructure but also provided valuable real-world experience in networking, system administration, cybersecurity, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Thanks to their efforts, the cyber lab and range are well prepared to support courses, competition teams, clubs, camps, events, and student projects throughout the coming academic year.
