Christina Awad has been living in the United States for six years, but most of her family and friends are still in Egypt. These last few weeks have been tense as protestors have demanded a change in the Egyptian government. When that change came on February 11, ABC 27 interviewed Awad for a story.

Junior Tara Breitsprecher told the Harrisburg Patriot-News a bit about her observations and experiences in Cairo during the political unrest in that major city. The article was printed Feb. 3. All three Messiah students studying in Cairo have been relocated to Turkey.

Three Messiah College students who were two weeks into their semester-long study abroad program in Cairo, Egypt have been evacuated to Turkey due to the political unrest and demonostrations in Cairo. Several local media outlets covered the story between January 31 and February 1.

Bryn Swartz, between full-time classes and his athletics office employement, somehow finds time to pen more than 100 blog entries a month for his popular Eagles Central blog on BallHyped.com. Swartz was recently named the site’s “Readers Choice Award for Best Blogger in 2010.”

The Thompsons-three–Logan, Danny, and Nick–grew up sharing a love of soccer. They never anticipated that soccer would bring them each to Messiah College where they would share together in multiple quests for national championships. The eldest Thompson, Nick, is the Falcons leading scorer. CBS 21 (WHP) interviewed the brothers on December 2, just days before they left to clinch the Falcons’ eighth national championship.

The story, which ran on November 30, reviews some of the history-making statistics racked up by these teams over the years.

Kris Sledge, a sophomore who was injured during a bomb blast at a small restaurant in Uganda in July, plans to return to Messiah in the spring, according to a November 26 Harrisburg Patriot-News story. Sledge suffered injuries, including a broken leg, and has taken the fall semester to recover.

Alicia Frey, daughter of women’s soccer coach Scott Frey, is having an incredible first-year season with the Falcons and has earned a spot as the third-leading scorer. Alicia talked to the Patriot-News for a late October story about her journey to Messiah College and what it’s like playing for one of the winningest teams in NCAA history.
