Sustainable funding for new projects, maintenance a priority

Harrisburg students create peace wall

November 2nd, 2011

Students in the Harrisburg School District are being introduced to community service in advance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day when they will devote the day to service. Chad Frey, director of Messiah’s Agape Center for Service and Learning, is leading a “Stories of Service” project that pairs Messiah mentors with students in Harrisburg and Northern Ireland.

Making applying to college less stressful

John Chopka, vice president for enrollment management, talks about Messiah’s commitment to make applying to college less stressful by waiving the application rate prior to November 15 and accepting students on a rolling basis. Making the most of sunflowers

October 25th, 2011

Messiah College invested in sunFLOWER POWER this summer in attempt to grow five acres of sunflowers, harvest the seeds, press them into cooking oil, use the oil in the college’s dining operations, collect the used oil, and convert it into biodiesel to fuel campus gators. The Lancaster Farmer talked about this project with Biodiesel Manager Mike Zummo and farmer Lynn Wingert in mid-October.
