Loss Support Group

Have you lost a loved one? Would you like a place where you can find support as you process the loss? The Engle Center will be offering a 6-week Grief Support Group to those that have experienced the loss of a loved one and who are looking for encouragement, connection, and community.

An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 1 at 5:30pm in the Engle Center Conference Room. You will meet with the counselor who will be facilitating the group and learn more information about what the group will entail.

Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Team

The Messiah College Athletics Department, in conjunction with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), are continually looking for additional opportunities for students to participate in intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division III level. The purpose of this email is to gauge preliminary interest of the female student body at Messiah College regarding the sport of Women’s Golf.

If you have interest in Women’s Golf, please email me (JCole@messiah.edu) with your name and a brief paragraph of your background in the sport (e.g., novice, played in high school, participated in tournaments).

This is only a preliminary inquiry into the interest level of intercollegiate Women’s Golf at Messiah College. If you have interest, please respond by March 4th.

Loft Bouldering Competition!

The Loft Team is hosting its annual Spring Semester Bouldering Competition. Starting THIS WEEK, you will have all semester to compete against friends and claim the highly esteemed title of 2016 MC Bouldering Champion!

Open every Monday through Thursday, the Bouldering Competition is a fun, encouraging competition that continues all semester. That means, come climb when you have the time! Each week, new routes will be set so you have the ongoing chance to rack up your total points! Climb them fast though, because as new routes go up, the old ones may have to come down!

At the end of the academic year, the points will be tallied, and the prizes and fame will be bestowed upon the victors in a grand ceremony. There will be four categories this semester: Youth, Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. (Note: this competition is open to all Messiah College staff, faculty, students, and family members). Once you sign up, your name will be added to a roster, and you will be able to start checking off routes as you get around to completing them. Show up when you can, and climb hard to win the prize!

All you have to do:
1. Have a desire to train and boulder in Messiah’s own climbing wall
2. Pay $2 to a Loft Team member before the end of March to enter into the competition
3. Come climb when you have the time (until finals have come upon us, that is).

Not interested in competing?!? Well, that’s fine! The Climbing wall is always open Mon, Wed, and Thurs from 4:15-6:15 and Tues from 8-10 pm. You do not need to be in the competition to enjoy this great opportunity to climb, have fun, and reach new heights.

Go climb, and have a fun time!

Student Chaplain Team

Messiah friends!

The current Student Chaplain Team is in the midst of choosing a new team to serve for the next school year. We read applications and conducted interviews, and NOW we need YOUR help!

THIS SUNDAY (Feb. 28th), we will be hosting a preaching/worship forum in KLINE 120 at 6pm! You will have the opportunity to hear brief sermons from our candidates for Student Body and Preaching chaplain, as well as enter into a time of musical worship with our Worship chaplain candidates. We hope you can be there to support your fellow students, and please BRING AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE WITH INTERNET ACCESS (smart phone, tablet, laptop) to fill out a short feedback survey on the candidates after the event.

We greatly appreciate your willingness to help make this hugely important decision, and we will be thanking you at the event with a MILK AND COOKIES BREAK! The current team will be spending part of our weekend baking hundreds of HOMEMADE COOKIES just for you to enjoy (there’s even a gluten-free option!).

So, please come to the forum to be filled with the Spirit and delicious baked goods! See you there!

With love,
— The Student Chaplain Team
