Reflecting on Transition
As graduation draws nearer, I find myself examining the ways that I have changed since I first came to Messiah. Of course there are the obvious changes such as amassing a ton of knowledge (and stuff); the expansion of my social network of friends; my management of time and work; and the ideas that I hold about the world. Some of these changes were subtle, while others were quite explicit. But, change itself is a remarkable thing. The ability to change demonstrates resilience and adaptability. To not have experienced any change would have made my time at Messiah a vain endeavor. So to all my fellow soon-to-be graduates, I commend you on the changes you have made, and I wish you the best of success in all that you do!

Hello! My name is Sasha and i’m from the Bahamas(Freeport). I’ll be attending Messiah this fall to major in Bio-chem. I was wondering if you can tell me a little bit about the school from your perspective. I’v read alot about it but thought it would be nice to have an opinion from a fellow Bahamian. Thanks for your time and congratulations!!

Thanks for the congrats and it’s a pleasure to meet you, Sasha! This is exciting! I mean it’s great that my blog is being read at all, but to know that a fellow Bahamian has read it is even more of an honor. You said you’re interested in biochem? Well, I can tell you that the chemistry and biochemistry faculty are truly a special group of educators. They’ve invested in me from day one, and were always eager to give me help or clarification any time it was sought. I’ve found my time at Messiah very rewarding because not only was I stretched and challenged; but, the instruction received was always framed by Christian perspectives, which, in turn, allowed me to keep other things in perspective. I hope that this helps, and if you have any more questions, I’d be more than happy to answer them!
