Sustain-a-Fest

So I’m sitting here in front of my computer in the Sustainability Office (that room with the glass windows right by the Falcon, come visit sometime–we have coffee!) staring at the word Sustain-a-Fest, and I realized, what the heck is a fest? Kind of sounds like “fester”, which is not appealing. So, because I have an inquisitive nauture and am always ready to learn (or maybe because a dictionary.com tab was already open in Firefox…) I looked it up.

fest [fest] noun:

1. an assembly of people engaged in a common activity (often used in combination): filmfest; gabfest; love-fest; poetry fest.

This Thursday, October 1st, from 1-4 PM an assembly of people will gather outside or inside the Union (weather dependent) and engage in the common activities of sipping bike-powered butternut squash smoothies, chomping on apples, listening to live music, benefiting from free bike repairs, learning more about compost, going on a roof tour, and striking up conversations about sustainability. We will also have a GIANT farm stand (including fresh eggs).
