Messiah takes No. 1 position…

Filed under: General — athomas @ 12:42 pm

I am really excited to see that the Messiah Women’s Basketball Team is ranked No. 1 in the d3hoops.com women’s top 25. Both basketball teams have been having a great season and it’s so good to see those programs succeeding!

In Phonathon news, recruitment continues … 14 days until training begins. I’m eager to hire more students so if you’re reading this, pick up the phone, call up your friends and have them fill out an application. Hey, you can fill one out too! Go ahead, you know Messiah is worth talking about.

Chapel, Phonathon etc.

Filed under: General — athomas @ 12:48 pm

Naomi Tutu’s message at chapel today was very meaningful. God has been speaking to me about his love for a while now and the thoughts she shared were very appropriate for this season of my life. I encourage you to take a look at these passages and let them minister to you.

Phonathon recruitment has started off well. I have got a couple of applications in and I am excited to see many more come. One of the main questions I’ve been asked is what Phonathon is about so I wanted to post some more information on the job here:

  • Each year, a group of students call alumni, parents and friends on behalf of the Student Impact Fund (SIF). The SIF is a fund that provides critical financial aid, scholarships and resources for students on campus. Calls are made during the Fall and Spring semester.
  • Calling takes place from Sept. - Dec. in the Fall and Feb. - May in the Spring.
  • Students are paid $6.75 an hour (plus a .25 cent increase every year they return).
  • Above the hourly wage, we play a variety of games during each calling shift. Prizes and incentives are given out every night. Bonuses are also awarded at the end of the semester.
  • Calling shifts are Monday-Thursday from 5:45-9 PM and 10-2 PM or 2:15-5:15 on Saturdays. Callers are required to work three shifts per week (one Saturday shift is required; Exceptions are reviewed on a case-case basis).

I trust that the above information is helpful. If you need further information, feel free to contact me. I am currently working with Publications on the Phonathon poster so that should be coming later this week. Be on the look out for that. That’s all for now. Have a blessed day!

Phonathon Recruitment Begins!

Filed under: General — athomas @ 10:14 am

The mass email went out today to recruit students for Phonathon. If you know of anyone who is interested, please have them contact me or click here to download an application.

In other news, I found out a couple of days ago that there are possibilities of a cease-fire agreement in Darfur. That was really good to hear so I encourage you to continue praying for our brothers and sisters in Sudan. Three-day weekend coming up plus MLK week is next week. You do NOT want to miss Naomi Tutu - she’s speaking at chapel on Tuesday (16th). Have an awesome weekend!
