Messiah College hosts Heisey lectures Oct. 28

October 7th, 2014

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 7, 2014) — M. J. Heisey, associate professor of history, The State University of New York at Potsdam and Nancy Heisey, professor, Bible & Religion Department, Eastern Mennonite University, will discuss “On the Trail of Elsie Bechtel: The Brethren in Christ Trove of Voices” presented by Dr. M. J. Heisey and “The Questionable Past and the Brethren in Christ Church” presented by Dr. Nancy R. Heisey, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. in Parmer Cinema located in Boyer Hall. Admission is free, and no ticket is required. The lecture is sponsored by The Sider Institute for Anabaptist, Pietist and Wesleyan Studies at Messiah College.  For more information, contact Shirley Groff at groff@messiah.edu.

About M. J. Heisey

M. J. Heisey (Ph.D., Syracuse University, 1998) is associate professor of history at SUNY Potsdam and author of “Peace and Persistence: Tracing the Brethren in Christ Peace Witness Through Three Generations” (Kent State University Press, 2003).

About Nancy Heisey

Nancy Heisey has worked as a teacher and administrator—first at Mennonite Central Committee and since 1999, at EMU. Her lifelong professional and church involvement with Mennonites and Brethren in Christ around the world and her research interests in early Christianity shape her reading and research into approaches to biblical interpretation. She enjoys singing, crocheting, listening to birds and visiting with her three granddaughters.
