Peter Greer and Shane Claiborne give social justice lecture at Messiah College

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 28, 2014) — Peter Greer, president and CEO of HOPE International, and Shane Claiborne, Christian activist and co-founder of The Simple Way faith community, will discuss “Beyond Left and Right: A Conversation on Social Justice” Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Parmer Hall in the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts. The lecture is sponsored by the Messiah College Honors Program and the Messiah College Office of the President. Admission is free, but a ticket is required. Messiah College professor speaks at interfaith conference on resurgence of interest in the study of religion on college campuses

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 22, 2014) — Messiah College professor Douglas Jacobsen, distinguished professor of church history and theology, will speak at the national conference “Toward a Field of Interfaith Studies: Course Sequences, Pedagogies and Best Practices” January 22-24 at New York University. Jacobsen helped plan the conference, designed to assist colleges and universities that want to develop curriculum to address the resurgence of interest in the study of religion.

Jacobsen is author, with his wife Rhonda Hustedt Jacobsen of “No Longer Invisible: Religion in University Education,” 2012, Oxford University Press. The Jacobsens are co-directors of the Religion in the Academy Project at Messiah. Continue reading…

Messiah College theatre department presents musical “Babes in Arms”

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 16, 2014) — The Messiah College Department of Theatre and Dance presents Richard Rogers’ musical “Babes in Arms” Feb. 6-9 and Feb. 13-16.  Showtimes for “Babes in Arms” are 8 p.m. for all shows except for Feb. 9 and 16 at 3 p.m.  This production is suitable for all ages.  General admission tickets cost $10; student and senior tickets cost $7.  To purchase a ticket, contact the Messiah College Ticket Office at 717-691-6036 or visit messiah.edu/theatretickets.
