Helene Cooper recounts her Liberian childhood in lecture at Messiah College

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Aug. 19, 2013) — Helene Cooper, current White House correspondent for the New York Times, will speak at Messiah College on Sept. 9 about her memoir, “The House at Sugar Beach: In Search of a Lost African Childhood,” the common reading selection for all of Messiah’s first-year students. Cooper’s free lecture will be held in Parmer Hall of the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Art at 6 p.m. A booksigning will follow. Continue reading…

Messiah College Oakes Museum provides science enrichment program for children

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Aug. 16, 2013) — The Curator Club is a multifaceted science program—open to students in third through eighth grades—sponsored by the Oakes Museum at Messiah College. The Curator Club, for children in grades three through five, meets from 9:45 a.m. to noon on Sept. 7 and 21; Oct. 5; and Nov. 2 and 16. CC2, a new program for students in sixth through eighth grades, meets from 1:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2.
