Messiah College adds three new majors to 2012-2013 undergraduate academic offerings

August 22nd, 2012

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Aug. 22, 2012) — Undergraduates at Messiah College can select from three new majors for the 2012-13 academic year: musical theatre; public relations; and film and media arts. With the addition of these new programs, Messiah now offers more than 80 undergraduate majors and six graduate degrees. For a complete list of majors, please visit messiah.edu/majors.

About the new majors
Film and media arts
— This bachelor of arts degree teaches both film and high definition video production. Students will learn writing, editing, production, performance and sales and will be required to intern at a major film studio.

Musical theatre — This bachelor of fine arts program provides extensive training in theater, dance and music. The program has received full approval from the National Association of Schools of Theatre, and Messiah is the only college in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) with this level of endorsement for its musical theatre program. Musical theatre majors are trained to perform professionally through a variety of on- and off-campus audition and performance opportunities.

Public relations — This bachelor of arts program will instruct students in facilitation of effective, strategic and ethical communication between organizations and their publics as public relations professionals. Messiah is one of only a few CCCU schools to offer a full-fledged public relations major.
