Messiah College’s American democracy lecture features Louis Fisher

Louis FisherGRANTHAM, Pa. (Oct. 16, 2009) — This year Messiah College’s annual American democracy lecture, sponsored by The Center for Public Humanities, will feature author, speaker and constitutional law specialist Louis Fisher. Fisher will speak on “The Case against ‘Judicial Supremacy’: How Citizens Shape the Constitution.” The lecture is on Nov. 10 and begins at 7 p.m. in Parmer Cinema located in Boyer Hall on the college’s Grantham campus.

Fisher is specialist in constitutional law with the Law Library of the Library of Congress. Previously, Fisher worked for the Congressional Research Service as research director of the House Iran-Contra Committee. He is author of more than 400 articles and numerous books and has been invited to speak in countries around the world. In addition to constitutional law, his specialties include war powers, budget policy, executive-legislative relations and judicial-congressional relations.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in 55 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
