Messiah College hosts workshop for guitarists and worship leaders

GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 27, 2009) – Three accomplished guitarists will lead a one-day seminar for guitarists and worship leaders on April 18 at Messiah College. The Workshop for the Christian Guitarist will feature instruction by Chris Davis, guitarist for the contemporary Christian group GLAD; Dwight Thomas, director of Christian music studies at Messiah; and Randall Zwally, director of guitar studies at Messiah. Seminars will educate participants on performing and rehearsing with a rhythm section; selecting and using electric guitars; understanding and adding appropriate chords to existing songs or hymns; and finger style picking and strumming for the acoustic guitar.
Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in 55 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
