GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 12, 2009) —Creating a national advertising campaign is no easy task—especially creating one that is named one of the top five in the 20th century. However, that is not the case for advertising pioneer Keith Reinhard who developed ad campaigns such as McDonald’s “You Deserve A Break Today,” or State Farm’s “Like A Good Neighbor, State Farm is There.” On March 30, Messiah College will host Keith Reinhard, chairman emeritus of DDB Worldwide Inc., for a presentation entitled “The Case for Global Citizenship.” The lecture, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel (updated 3/30), on the college’s Grantham campus, is free and open to the public.

About Keith Reinhard
Reinhard ran one of the world’s largest and most creative advertising agency networks with 206 offices in 96 countries. DDB has won more awards in the 50-year history of the International Advertising Festival than any other agency in the world. Reinhard’s campaign for McDonald’s “You Deserve a Break Today” was named one of the top five ad campaigns of the 20th century and the jingle itself was the named the best jingle of the 20th century. He also developed the Hamburglar and the other McDonald’s characters as well as coined the Big Mac tongue twister, “Two-all-beef-patties-special-sauce-lettuce-cheese-pickles-onions-on a sesame seed bun.”

In 1999 “Advertising Age” named Reinhard one of the “Top 100 Industry Influentials in Advertising History.” Reinhard is the former chairman of the American Association of Advertising Agencies and is still a member of its advisory board. In 2002 he founded a non-profit group, Business for Diplomatic Action, Inc. As president of this organization Reinhard has testified before U.S. Congress and has appeared in publications such as “The Economist,” “The New York Times,” The Wall Street Journal” and “The Atlantic.”
