Messiah College hosts free workshop to help parents of high school seniors complete FAFSA forms

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Feb. 3, 2009) — Parents of graduating seniors who are daunted by the task of completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form can find relief at a free workshop on February 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Messiah College in Frey Hall academic building, room 166. Financial aid officials from Messiah will assist parents while they complete the FAFSA form on either the web or on paper. Participants do not have to apply to Messiah College in order to attend this workshop.

The session is for high school seniors and their parents only. Parents should come prepared with paper and pencils; a calculator; and the following documents for both parents and the student: 2008 federal tax returns (if completed); information about the current value of all assets; birth dates; and social security numbers.

Participants who wish to get an early start can download the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/before012.htm and begin to complete it before the workshop. A supply of the paper Free Applications for Federal Student Aid will be available for those who do not wish to complete the FAFSA online.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in more than 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
