GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 22, 2009) — With three albums under their belts and an exciting humanitarian effort underway, the band MAE, with special guest The Color Fred, will perform on Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college’s Grantham campus. Tickets are $15 for general admission and may be purchased by calling the ticket office at (717) 691-6036 or visiting www.messiah.edu/tickets.

MAE, whose name stands for “multi-sensory aesthetic experience,” is comprised of Jacob Marshall, drummer; Dave Elkins, lead vocalist; and Zach Gehring, guitarist. The band released their first album, “Destination: Beautiful,” in 2003. They completed two additional full-length albums under different labels: “The Everglow” in 2005 and “Singularity” in 2007.

Their latest effort is part of a year-long campaign to help those less fortunate and raise awareness about important humanitarian issues. Each month during 2009, MAE will release a new song exclusively on their website. Fans can hear the new music for free, and, for a minimum donation of $1, they can download the song. All of the profits from the digital downloads will fund humanitarian projects like Habitat for Humanity.

Special guest The Color Fred is comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist Fred Mascherino (formerly with Taking Back Sunday), Stephen Curtiss and Chris Poulsen. The band just released its first album, “Bend to Break.”

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in more than 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
