Messiah College Cultural Series to “tango” with Quartet San Francisco

January 26th, 2009

Quartet San Franscisco

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2009) — Grammy nominees for their last two releases and International Tango competition winners, Quartet San Francisco (QSF) will perform its virtuosic and agile show on Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel on the college’s Grantham campus. Tickets are $23 and can be purchased at www.messiah.edu/tickets or by calling (717) 691-6036.

About Quartet San Francisco
Since its concert debut in 2001, QSF has offered its exclusive and ground-breaking literature to local, national and international audiences in a variety of venues including tango and concert halls, jazz festivals, museums and classrooms. They excel in multiple styles — from jazz to tango, pop to funk, blues to bluegrass, and gypsy swing to big band. QSF redefines the sound of chamber music: “When the music says swing, we swing. When the music says groove, we groove.” The band members include world-class musicians Jeremy Cohen, violin; Kayo Miki, violin; Keith Lawrence, viola; and Joel Cohen on cello.

About the Cultural Series
The 2008-09 season, Celebration of Strings, will conclude with the Georgia Guitar Quartet on March 13.
