Messiah hosts 19th annual “Building Strong Families” conference

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2009) – Messiah College will host the 19th annual Building Strong Families Conference, which will address “Family Ethics and Moral Values” on Thursday, October 22. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Boyer Hall on the Grantham campus. A certificate of attendance will be provided for each conference participant. Former Reagan analyst to speak at Messiah College

(Sept. 29, 2009) — Former policy analyst for the Reagan administration and nationally acclaimed writer and speaker, Dinesh D’Souza, will speak at Messiah College on Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. D’Souza will lecture on his book “What’s So Great about America” in Brubaker Auditorium, located in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college’s Grantham campus. Messiah College to host an evening of comedy

The event will be held on Oct. 16 in Brubaker Auditorium in the Eisenhower Campus Center and will begin at 7 p.m. Seating is by ticket only and tickets can be purchased at the Messiah College Ticket Office for $10 or by calling 717-691-6036. Theatre department uncovers the legacy of Messiah College

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2009) — The Department of Theatre at Messiah College will perform a play written specifically to celebrate the College’s centennial year. “Fertile Grounds: Stories of Messiah’s First 100 Years,” was written by Deborah Harbin and will be directed by James Knipple, who are both Messiah alumni. For audiences of all ages, “Fertile Ground” will recount stories of hardship and success from Messiah College’s century-long history, including tales of its founder’s noodle business and anecdotes from the lives of students and faculty. The play will be performed Oct. 8-16 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. All performances will take place in Miller Auditorium located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. Messiah College music department to present October concerts

(Sept. 18, 2009) — The Messiah College School of the Arts will present three concerts in October: the Symphony Orchestra will perform on October 11 at 3 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel, the Wind Ensemble and JazzONE will perform on October 17 at 8 p.m. in Miller Auditorium, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center, and Symphonic Winds and JazzTWO will perform on October 18 at 3 p.m. in Miller Auditorium. Messiah College examines connections between religion and science

(Sept. 17, 2009) — Messiah College and the Central Pennsylvania Forum for Religion and Science will present scientific and religious author and scholar Matthew Stanley on Oct. 8. The lecture begins at 7 p.m. in room 120 of the Kline academic building located on the college’s Grantham campus. Stanley will lecture on “The Values of a Religious Scientist: The Case of Arthur Eddington.” Eddington was a Quaker astronomer who was chastised for his pacifist views during World War I. Free weekly concert series at Messiah College features diverse new artists

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Sept. 10, 2009) — Sponsored by Messiah College’s Student Activities Board, “B-Sides,” a semester-long concert series, brings bands with diverse musical styles to campus every Wednesday night at 10 p.m. for free concerts.
