GRANTHAM, Pa. (April 22, 2009) — Messiah College invites your coverage on April 23 as it holds its tenth annual Service Day, a day of community service throughout the region. Service Day is a campuswide initiative which involves more than 1,500 Messiah College students, faculty and staff performing both on- and off-campus volunteer service projects at more than 70 locations throughout central Pennsylvania. Service Day 2009 will be held in conjunction with the 40th Annual Area M Special Olympics Games. In addition to celebrating 40 years of Special Olympics Games in central Pennsylvania, volunteers and participants will celebrate Messiah College’s 20th year of hosting the event on its campus. GRANTHAM, Pa. (April 14, 2009) — Messiah College is offering motivated students who have completed grades 6-11 the opportunity to learn about archaeology, engineering design, rocketry, printmaking and may other subjects in its weeklong Summer Academy, August 3-7. Taught by Messiah faculty and local gifted support teachers, each course provides a hands-on, interactive learning experience. Students can choose one or two, 90-minute class sessions for a one-time $30 registration fee and $150 tuition fee. Class sizes are limited and the registration deadline is July 15. (April 9, 2009) – For its sixth annual School of Mathematics, Engineering and Business Student Scholars’ Expo, Messiah College invites local business leaders, corporations, students, alumni and friends to meet faculty and students, visit the facilities, view senior project presentations and learn more about the quality programs the school offers. GRANTHAM, Pa. (April 3, 2009) – Messiah College’s departments of psychology, sociology, social work and criminal justice, in cooperation with Philhaven Behavioral Healthcare Services, present the fifth annual Ethics Conference for the Helping Professions on April 24. The first session is from 8:45 a.m.–12 p.m. and the second is from 1-4:15 p.m. The conference’s keynote speaker, Everett Worthington, will lecture on “Ethical Issues Related to Forgiveness and Justice.” The conference will be held in Hostetter Chapel, located on the college’s Grantham campus. (April 1, 2009) – See how one parolee and one town’s local diner transform a community in Messiah College theatre department’s production of “The Spitfire Grill.” The musical will be performed April 23-25 and 27-28 at 8 p.m. and April 26 at 3 p.m. Each performance is in Miller Auditorium in the Climenhega Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus.
