GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 28, 2009) — On Feb. 18 Messiah College will host the play “God’s Image Carved in Ebony,” sponsored by the college’s Office of Multicultural Programs and Multicultural Council. The show is a one-act play featuring actors Michelle Armster and R. Nick Peterson. There is no admission cost for the play which begins at 7 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel on the college’s Grantham campus. (Jan. 23, 2009) — Friends of Murray Library at Messiah College is currently seeking donations of hardcover and paperback books for its 14th Annual Used Book Sale to be held March 28-April 1. GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 22, 2009) — The Sider Institute for Anabaptist, Pietist and Wesleyan Studies at Messiah College announces its annual peace lectures that will take place on Feb. 12. This year’s presentations feature a panel of presenters who will explore various religions and peace-making traditions in “Inter-Faith Peace-Making: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.” The lectures are in Hostetter Chapel on the college’s Grantham campus. The first lecture, featuring Catherine Meeks and Ed Bacon, is from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The second lecture, featuring all four speakers in a roundtable discussion, is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free. GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 16, 2009) — On view Feb. 6- March 13, the Aughinbaugh Art Gallery at Messiah College will display artwork by Boston-based artist Cheryl Warrick. All displays, on view during normal gallery hours, are free and open to the public. The Aughinbaugh Art Gallery is located on the lower level of Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. The gallery is open Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Continue reading…

(Jan. 16, 2009) — Messiah College invites your coverage of its fourth annual Dr. King Community Engagement Day on Jan. 19th, an event involving 60 students, faculty and staff celebrating King’s life and vision through a variety of service and educational activities in Harrisburg. GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 15, 2009) — Students in third through fifth grades are invited to enroll in the Curator Club, an activity club at the Oakes Museum on Messiah College’s Grantham campus. Members of the Curator Club will attend six Saturday sessions between February 7 and April 18 where they will study everything from birds and plants to volcanoes and earthquakes to the secrets behind Punxsutawney Phil and weather prediction. Each session will be held from 9:45 a.m. to noon at the Oakes Museum. The cost is $50 per child for all six sessions or $10 per activity. GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 15, 2009) — The Messiah College department of theatre presents, “Tales from the Middle East,” a story of a young girl’s travels from Pennsylvania to the Middle East. The play is designed specifically for children, but is sure to entertain viewers of all ages. Performances are February 5-7 and 12-14 at 8 p.m. and February 8 and 15 at 3 p.m. in Miller Auditorium in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on Messiah’s Grantham campus.
