Political analyst Fred Barnes offers presidential election insights at Messiah College

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Sept. 9, 2008) — Fred Barnes, executive editor of “The Weekly Standard” and political commentator on Fox News Channel, will give a public lecture about the 2008 presidential election on Sept. 30 at Messiah College. The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college’s Grantham campus. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Barnes covered the Supreme Court and the White House for the “Washington Star” before moving to the “Baltimore Sun” in 1979, where he served as national political correspondent. From 1985 to 1995, he served as senior editor and White House correspondent for the “New Republic.” In addition to his experience with print media, Barnes is often seen on Fox News Channel: as co-host of the “Beltway Boys” and as a regular on Brit Hume’s “Special Report.” He has appeared on many other news shows, including “Nightline” and “Meet the Press.”
Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in more than 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
