GRANTHAM, Pa. (Aug. 25, 2008) — Musician Ingrid Michaelson’s Sept. 13 show at Messiah College comes just days after she opens Madison Square Garden for the Dave Matthews Band and just days before she kicks off a European tour with Jason Mraz. The 8 p.m. concert will take place in Brubaker Auditorium in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college’s Grantham campus. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.messiah.edu/tickets or by calling (717) 691-6036.
Michaelson’s fame skyrocketed after her songs landed on popular television shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “One Tree Hill” as well as in an Old Navy commercial. Previously, much of Michaelson’s music had been promoted solely online via MySpace.
Michaelson has released two albums: “Slow the Rain” in 2003 and “Girls and Boys” in 2006. The Staten Island native is the daughter of artist parents; her father is a composer and her mother is a sculptor. Michaelson began playing piano at age five and trained at Manhattan’s Third Street Music School. She graduated from Staten Island Technical High School and Binghamton University.
Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in more than 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
