GRANTHAM, Pa. (Aug. 21, 2008) – The Aughinbaugh Gallery at Messiah College will display the vivid and fantastical bead sculptures of artist Gail Gorlitzz from Sept. 12 until Oct. 19. The exhibit, “Depth Perception,” will feature a variety of Gorlitzz’s work, much of which is inspired by sea life and her garden, and may be viewed during normal gallery hours. The gallery will sponsor an artist’s talk and reception on Sept. 12 from 6-8 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

About Gail Gorlitzz
Using beads as her primary medium, Gortlizz explains, “I love how these small bits of glass reflect light, shifting and changing the visual dynamics of the sculpture in ways not possible with other media. I work intuitively by interweaving, layering and shaping these tiny elements of color to have their flow mirror my own streams of thought filled with memories, associations and twists of imagination.”

Gorlitzz received her bachelor’s degree of fine arts in sculpture from Cornell University. She did her graduate work at George Washington University and as a special student to Anne Truitt at the University of Maryland, College Park. She has exhibited a variety of solo and group shows on the east coast.
