Ray Aldred featured speaker during Messiah College’s commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr.

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 2, 2008) — Ray Aldred of the Swan River Cree Nation in Alberta, Canada, will speak Jan. 22 at 9:45 a.m. on “Economic Justice in Light of the Incarnation” in conjunction with Messiah College’s commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr., a week-long celebration themed “The Cost of Love.” The event featuring Aldred will be held in Brubaker Auditorium in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college’ Grantham campus. About Ray Aldred
A native of northern Alberta, Canada, Aldred lives with his wife and son in Calgary, where he is involved in ministering to couples and individuals recovering from abuse. He also works with My People International to develop indigenous leadership and serves as the assistant professor of theology at Ambrose Seminary in Calgary. He has spoken at numerous colleges on topics related to cross-cultural ministry, and he says that his passion is “to help as many as possible hear the gospel in their heart language.”
About Messiah College’s commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr.
The college is sponsoring a week of activities for students to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. from Jan. 17 to 23. On Jan. 21, students will take to the streets of Harrisburg where they will do service projects, meet with community leaders and participate in a cultural tour as part of Community Engagement Day. Other highlights of the week, apart from Aldred’s address, include an interdenominational service in honor of King and a student-led dance and film tribute to King. Throughout the week, classes will read King’s “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech, his famous last public words.
