GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 14, 2008) — Celebrating its 62nd year, the Messiah College Choral Arts Society, directed by Linda Tedford, will perform with the Messiah College Concert Choir and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, directed by Stuart Malina, to present two concerts of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Dona Nobis Pacem” and Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony.” The concerts will be held on April 5 at 8 p.m. and April 6 at 3 p.m. at the Forum, 5th and Walnut Streets in downtown Harrisburg. The Susquehanna Valley Chorale, directed by Linda Tedford, and the Alumni Chorale of Lebanon Valley College, directed by Greg Mauroni, will also perform at the concert. GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 13, 2008) — The Messiah College Friends of Murray Library will hold its 13th annual used book sale beginning April 5 and continuing through April 9 in Murray Library on the college’s Grantham campus. The sale will operate during normal library hours (Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m. to midnight; Monday to Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to midnight).
Approximately 20,000 books will be offered at the sale. Prices range from $0.50 - $3.00 for hardbacks and paperbacks, with old, rare and collectible books priced as marked. Other materials for sale include DVDs, videos, LP records, music scores, CDs, cassettes, maps and home-schooling resources. On April 8, all books will be half price; on April 9, books will sell at $5 per bag. Continue reading…

GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 7, 2008) — From March 28 to May 2, Messiah College’s Aughinbaugh Art Gallery will host displays of senior student artwork. All of the displays are free and open to the public, viewable during normal gallery hours. GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 6, 2008) — Youth workers and student youth leaders are invited to join ministry veterans from a variety of churches and organizations on March 29 at Messiah College for a day of worship, educational seminars and roundtable discussions, concluding with a concert by popular recording artists Keith and Kristyn Getty. This third annual conference, themed “Raising the Bar: A Clarion Call to Commitment and Service” is from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Brubaker and Hitchcock Auditoriums and Fry and Boyer Halls, on the college’s Grantham campus. Youth workers and student leaders will hear addresses given by keynote speakers Kenda Creasy Dean, director of the Tennent School of Christian Education at Princeton Theological Seminary and Steven Gallaher, founder of Salt ‘n Light Youth Ministry. The concert is open to the public and will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium in the Eisenhower Campus Center, on the college’s Grantham campus. (March 6, 2008) – The husband-and-wife duo Over the Rhine bring their “evocative, earthy songwriting and impassioned delivery” to Messiah College in a dynamic concert performance on March 28 at 8 pm. Their most recent album, “The Trumpet Child,” collaborates with Nashville producer Brad Jones to deliver, in strings, woodwinds and horns, “a juicy, informally epic pop album unlike any other you’re likely to hear this year.” They will perform in Brubaker Auditorium, located in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college’s Grantham campus. (March 5, 2008) — Stephen Monsma, author of “Healing for a Broken World: Christian Perspectives on Public Policy,” will lecture on March 25 at 7 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel, located on Messiah College’s Grantham campus. Monsma will offer a very timely presentation about religion and politics in light of the upcoming election. The lecture, sponsored by the Ernest L. Lewis and gender equality for the fifth annual Riegsecker lecture series. Her talk, “A Preference for People: C. S. Lewis, Dorothy Sayers and the Psychology of Gender,” will be held on March 26 at 7 p.m. in Parmer Cinema, located in the Boyer Hall academic building on the college’s Grantham campus.
