Students record festival, bull fight, and workshop sounds while on cross-cultural trip to Spain

September 3rd, 2008

These sounds, along with interviews, will be broadcast on public radio Friday and Saturday.

Faculty members Randy Zwally, director of the guitar studies program, and Kim Yunez, professor of Spanish, took students on a cross-cultural trip to Spain to experience and explore the country’s history, architecture, and culture while recording sounds in a variety of locations, including the shop of renowned guitar artisan Antonio Marin.

Local National Public Radio station, WITF 89.5, will broadcast reports about the trip as well as the recorded sounds on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6.

The “Artbeat” feature will air on Sept. 5 at 5:35 a.m., 7:35 a.m., and between 2:30 and 3 p.m. The Sept. 6 broadcast will be twice during “Weekend America:” either at 1:29 and 3:29 p.m. or 2:29 and 4:29 p.m.
