“Enterprising Women” magazine recognized Debra Pierson `89 as a 2008 Enterprising Woman of the Year finalist for her position as founder and president of the successful Pierson Consulting Company and for her role in motivating and mentoring other women in business.

Messiah students gathered last night to pray for the Northern Illinois University community as it recovers from last week’s campus tragedy. The vigil was led by Michelle Graham, an Inter-Varsity employee on the campus of NIU.

Messiah’s commitment to service-learning and civic engagement earned the College recognition on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction. Sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the honor roll notes colleges’ exemplary service efforts and service to disadvantaged youth.
Messiah College joins 126 other institutions earning the Honor Roll with Distinction award. A total of 528 colleges and universities were recognized.
The Honor Roll is jointly sponsored by the Corporation, through its Learn and Serve America program, and the Department of Education, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, USA Freedom Corps, and the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.

One hundred percent of Messiah’s elementary, early childhood, and special education graduates in 2007 passed the Praxis Series assessments, an exam required for obtaining teacher certification in Pennsylvania and many other states.

With the inaugural season of its new men’s and women’s swim team starting this fall, Messiah College has hired Coach Dan Lloyd, a record-setting swimmer and outstanding coach, to pioneer the program.
