From October 15 to November 2 their will be an altar in commemoration of El Dia de Los Muertos.

El Dia de Los Muertos can be traced back to indigenous peoples all over the world. In many cultures the first two days of November are set aside as spiritual holidays to celebrate the deaths of loved ones and the passage of their souls into the next life. Come join the conversation and learn about the Day of the Dead, one of the worlds most misrepresented holidays.

As part of the display we invite you to bring items that you would like to place at the altar in memory of a loved one that has passed away. If you would like to bring an item please contact Hierald at HKaneOsorto@messiah.edu

The altar will be on display in the Boyer Foyer located across the elevators.

On October 31, there will be discussion with Fidelia Friedman, a leader among the Mexican community in Harrisburg, PA, on the significance of the altar and how it is celebrated in Mexico.
Where: Boyer 134
Time: 7:00pm

This event is being sponsored by La Alianza Latina with the support of the Office of Multicultural Programs.
