Midnight Beach Trip? Yes Please.
Hey again everyone!
So, what’s the first thing you think about when you think, “College?” Yup: no sleep. Sometimes this can be an awful thing. Trust me. The night before a huge test, pulling an all-nighter? The worst. BUT fun all-nighters are possible too. I’ll admit, I’m kind [...]

Working in the night
College students are often faced with hours of class work, activities and fun. While this makes for exciting and busy semesters, it can require students to sacrifice sleep hours. Though some students dread the idea of having to work into the late hours of the night, I have found that I enjoy working at night.
One [...]

Into the Streets
One of the things I love most about Messiah’s first year orientation is the Into the Streets Program. Students are separated into their peer groups and go out on that first Saturday to serve in the local community. My peer group helped run a carnival for a Methodist Church Youth Program. The carnival itself was [...]

Problems in Philosophy
When I got here for my first semester at Messiah, I had picked out my classes, and I was ready to go. One of the classes I was really excited for was “Problems in Philosophy.” I guess it just sounded really interesting to me, as I’ve always been a fan of studying different [...]

Tubes Ahoy!
Hey everyone!
Want to hear a cool thing to do around campus…for FREE? I bet you do! The Yellow Breeches, a designated Pennsylvania Scenic River, is the body of water that flows right through Messiah’s beautiful campus. I don’t know why it’s called the YELLOW Breeches, but don’t let the name fool you, [...]

One Item You Won’t Regret
For me, the item I’m really glad I brought was an umbrella. While I enjoy watching the rain, I do not enjoy being in the rain, especially walking from class to class. My umbrella saves me and my back pack (with my computer and books) from getting wet.
Words of Wisdom: It might be worth it [...]

Food, Food, Food…
What is the one item I could not live without at college? It’s definitely food. Studying, working and sitting in class has the ability to make a student very hungry, and I am no exception. Messiah College has 4 great places to get food on campus not matter what quisene might interest a student. The [...]

Study, Study, Study
Although it’s not the most exciting part of my day, studying is a necessary part of college life. Many students struggle during their first semester to form good study habits. I used advice I had gotten from a college magazine and it has worked very well for me. The advice was to set aside a [...]

Sleep!!!
Most college students don’t even recognize let alone define the word “sleep” by the time they reach their sophomore year. When I came to Messiah sleep was important, and then there was coffee house, the union, movies, games, soccer games, brusters, concerts, clubs, floor activities, and finally homework. Almost instantly sleep dropped as a priority, [...]

Stress, and how to deal with it, Messiah style
Let’s face it, we all get stressed from time to time. Say it’s the perfect storm of schoolwork and three tests end up on the same day… back to back… with a paper due. While this never really happens and since the professors are all kind and willing to save your hair from the obvious [...]
