Internships for credit or money?

The debate over whether interns should be paid or receive college credit for their workforce experience was recently reignited when the U.S. Department of Labor clarified the educational criteria for unpaid internships. The Chronicle of Higher Education spoke with Mike True, the director of the Internship Center at Messiah College, for its May 9 story.

New internship regulations clarified

New U.S. Labor Department regulations are attempting to clarify the role of employer and intern so as to prevent students from being taken advantage when in an unpaid internship. Mike True, director of the Internship Center, comments on the new regulations in an April 21 Chronicle of Higher Education article.

Principles for an effective college internship program

Messiah intern helps local historical society

December 1st, 2009

Messiah student Leah Gibbons, a history major, is interning at the Cumberland County Historical Society this fall where she is helping to develop a self-guided, audio walking tour of landmarks in the borough of Carlisle. Gibbons has selected the landmarks and developed the script for the tour. The Carlisle Sentinel covered the project in a Nov. 25 article.
