Before I turned to this page…

You know how you finish one page of a coloring book and look forward to turning the page and starting anew?  That was what my college search was like for me.  As I was coloring in the final pages of high school, all I could think of was the next page of my book.  Sure, I was worried that I wouldn’t make the right choices about colors or “mess it up” by coloring outside of the lines.  What I was sure of was that I would like the picture that I was coloring.  That was how I looked at Messiah.  Messiah was always the only option for me.  I always wanted to come here and knew that this was where God was calling me.  My mom, uncle, and aunt all came here and I had grown up hearing how they had spent their times coloring in their pages while they were here.  I liked the ways their pictures turned out and wanted to follow in their foot steps.  I also saw a lot of potential here at Messiah.  I couldn’t wait to see how I could grow here and what I could learn.  I am still just as excited about Messiah as I was two or three years ago.  It has fulfilled my expectations and exceeded them.  If I had to pick anywhere to color my page of college, I would not chose any other place.

Picking up a crayon…

People always ask me to pick one word that my friends describe me as being.  The first characteristic that I think of is not friendly, bubbly, or short (all of which I am…by the way).  The first thing I think of is “elementary education major.”  As we take this journey together and explore what life is like for me here at Messiah College, I want you to keep that in mind.  Step into my very small shoes and see the world in vibrant colors, with each picture being a bulletin board idea and each book being the next foundation for a lesson plan.  As you look at my life here at Messiah, I want you to watch as I fill in the coloring book pages of my days here.  Each day is one more space filled in.  Sometimes the coloring will seem perfect and sometimes you will wonder why I ever considered becoming an art minor.  So, follow me as I continue to color with my crayon.  Don’t forget to pick up your crayon too and color with me!
