Feeling lunar tonight???

11:06 pm February 20th, 2008

Wow, two posts in one day? Trust me folks, I am no blog-a-holic! :D

So anyways, its 10:27pm and there’s a Lunar eclipse occuring in exactly three minutes. I swear you would think this was some sort of spectator sport, FIFA or Kobe v. Shaq in championship b-ball. Okay maybe not that extreme, but there are about 45 to 50 brave Messiaher’s/Messiahians (call it what you want) positioned outside (some sitting, some standing) in the arctic and biting, bitter cold. This moment is great! Reason #5467488200 why I love and chose Messiah College: the community of strange, yet seemingly well rounded individuals. Oh crap, its now 10:29pm…gotta go!

    SOME TIME LATER

10:36pm- Boo!! I want a refund. I didn’t see no nothing (yes, a double negative) but man am I dissapointed. My pocket vibrated as family members phoned in with their Ooohs and ahhhs, but the moon was a no show for me. Granted, I saw it for a split second, staring back at me looking ever so celestial, picturesque and skittle pink as I walked back from work. Albeit i’m annoyed. Now I’ve missed the big sha-bang. (sigh) …the last total lunar eclipse until 2010. Oh well, at least I got to play in the snow.

Oh wait a sec, I think I see something!

The end is near..

Writer. I am no self proclaimed writer. Thinker: yes, indubitably. I have thought out and categorically planned everything as far as next Thursday. YAY me!

Needless to say, it is hump day and I have never been more frantic to make it to Friday! This time its not about my colossal, life-of-the-party plans lurking around for the weekend, and its certainly not that burning desire to spend my hard earned work-study money. I’m talking about the upcoming events sponsored by the career center. If you don’t know by now,

    “TRUE LIFE: I’m Graduating”

happens tomorrow 2/21! I am soooooo pumped. This event includes 20 minute round table “speed” sessions to provide us students with loads of information about excelling in the ‘real world.’ It is also designed to ease the transition from our undergraduate studies to professional living.
I’ve already marked my calendar for a hot date with the Career center in addition to attending such sessions as Life After Messiah: What to Expect Your First Year Out, What You Should Know as a Job Seeker, and ofcourse Etiquette 101: How Not to Embarrass Yourself!

I need this one the most. (Sidenote: have you ever said something wild and far-fetched only to sit and think about it later?)

Friday is my designated “get-er-done” day when I’ll sit on the floor of my newly furnished apartment (Check out Fry apts.) and shuffle between countless job vacany announcements, making much needed resume edits with my very fat red pen. If thats not exciting, on 2/23 I am registered to take the FREE practice GRE bright and early at 9:30am. (The Career Center also provides practice testing on the GMAT, LSAT & MCAT) Sleeping in won’t be an option this weekend so I can scratch that from my list.
Truly everything is coming together, less than 90 days until graduation. The end is definitely near…

Just another random night…

11:05 pm February 19th, 2008

So here I am, staring aimlessly at my laptop, suprised by my lack of creativity, ingenuity and inability to entertain myself the one night when I have no homework or pressing deadlines. This is a first! I’ve just made college history: the one time I have no readings, no laundry, no tests or quizes immediately following tonight’s sleep. Hmm, I wonder what’s on TV, a broadcasting major never gets tired of television, right? I figure I better do something productive because sure enough, the weeks before Spring Break will soon hover over me like a cloud. So to keep from falling asleep on my keypad, moreless spending hours on AIM conversing about nothing, I’ll take a chance and engage in the first thing I see when I turn on my TV.

Yess, election coverage on CNN! Obama/McCain win Wisconsin. (wow) Interestingly enough, while its only February I often feel that if I skip a beat and fail to watch ever primary from every state I will have missed something utterly important and climactic!!!
Wow! The candidates have so much to say. My ears are open, my mind is clear, and there is so much more that I want to hear. former Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee wants to reinstate arts education in schools. (very nice, very nice!) Senator Barack Obama has annouced his “American Opportunity Tax Credit” which ensures that the first $4,000 of a college education is free for most Americans attending a public college or university. Those individuals will be required to perform 100 hours of service annually, whether its during the school year or over the summer months. His plan will also require that 25% of federal work-study funds go to community service jobs as opposed to various campus positions. (again, very nice, very nice)
I could go on forever, there is so much to talk about, so much to research. Hmm, I wonder what students across the country are saying about these issues, I know people are blogging. Hey, I think I’ve just figured out what I am going to do next!
