Such is Life

There are many things I’d like to do right now; namely, take a nap, have a shower, get a job, finish the millions of things I have to do this week. This 24-hour day business is cut throat. Where does one find the time to prepare for midterms, plan spring break, get the paper out, start a senior thesis, apply for real jobs, stay in shape and finish reading that should already be done? Not to mention the laundry, the pile of dishes cumulating in the sink, nails that are begging for a trim and a new paint job and the new episode of the Gauntlet tonight.

I just wrote a piece for the Current about the reverse culture shock I experienced upon returning to Grantham for the first time in a year and a half. You can read it here. Although I say that getting into a routine is a good thing, it doesn’t get any easier waking up to the 7 a.m. alarm every day. So what is a feasible solution to staying on top of things day in and day out without burning out, especially this early in the semester? I’d come up with a good answer, but my to-do list has already maxed its quota for this week.
