Taxes and a trip down memory lane

Is it bad when you take a break from your work to do your taxes? Unfortunately for me and the roommates within earshot of me, that is exactly what I did this past weekend. Ever since I started college, my mom has tried to get me to do my own taxes. But every year, the only thing I ended up doing was sign my name here, here and here. So this year, being almost 1000 miles away, my mom put her foot down and sent me up to school with the 1040EZ and other very legal documents for me to possibly and most likely screw up.

It took several painful and frustrating hours, but with the help of a free tax filing service, I was able to my taxes sans mama for once, and it was an ever sweeter feeling when I saw my refund. If you need money like I do, do your taxes.

In other news, I miraculously found some time last weekend to submit some of my photos to the off-campus experience photography contest. I don’t consider myself to be a photographer, and I really don’t think any of my photos will get very far in the contest, but it was nice to pick some good ones out of the masses. The categories I submitted photos to are cultural landmarks, student action and human interest.

Here are some picture from my semester abroad:
