Giving Back

This week has been crazy!! It’s Purple Week at Messiah College and Colleges Against Cancer is out and about trying to raise support. We have had an education table up in Lottie (and on Tuesday students could decorate those bangin sugar cookies Lottie makes!) and we also have one in the Union during the evenings. And there was free coffee and cake last night at B-Sides and tonight is the Luminaria alternate chapel. It’s a lot of work, but it is so rewarding to know that our efforts will make a difference in the lives of cancer patients everywhere.

PRSSA’s big event is also this Friday night! We are putting on a fundraiser for Kupkakes for Kris, which is a local organization that has spread nation-wide. We are raising money to support families affected by cancer in the name of Kris Green, a local PR professional who succumbed to cancer last September. Our event is a “koffeehouse” at West Shore Evangelical Free Church from 6:30-9:30 tomorrow, Nov.12. For only $5 you can eat all the kupkakes you want and enjoy bands like Jazz Me, and listen to Messiah students like Hannah Grosh and Alex Brubaker…and more!

It’s a full-on cancer week. I love that I’ve had these opportunities to give back. My family has been blessed by the generosity of others when we needed it most, and now I can stand with those that are fighting for their lives and be a part of something bigger than myself.

…til I see you again…
