Residence Assistants (RAs)

“RA” stands for Resident Assistant. An RA is a full-time student in a leadership position in the residence halls. At Messiah, it is the RA’s primary responsibility to assist in building a sense of community within their respective residence halls, and also to uphold College policy and standards. As an RA, you are responsible for developing programs and activities to challenge and enhance your fellow students’ college experience and are also available to listen with a friendly ear, to help with facilities needs, and to direct others to campus resources. An RA is on duty in each residence hall from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day during the academic year (when classes are in session) for emergencies or other student concerns. Each residence hall also has one Senior Resident Assistant (SRA). An SRA is also a full-time student, but one with greater experience and additional responsibility. SRAs perform all of the duties of an RA, but also serve as assistants to their respective RDs (Resident Directors - who are full-time employees of the College).

International Festival

Our First Annual International Festival at Messiah College is coming up on Sunday, November 15th. This event provides our campus with the opportunity to engage and hang out with students, faculty and staff in an informal way, but will also include the premier of “The Video Project.” “The Video Project” is a video that focuses on stories of students and faculty members sharing with us what the concept of global citizenship means to them, about their international experiences, on their Christian faith, and on what being a member of Messiah College community has meant to them. We’ll also enjoy a sampling of international cuisine, consisting of appetizers from Morocco, fusion of Africa & India, and Latin America served by our very own dining services catering!

Honors Program Curriculum

Participants in the Messiah College Honors Program immediately begin their credit-bearing curriculum with an honors section first-year seminar. Designed to challenge the incoming student’s academic abilities while providing a context of support, the first-year seminar of 10 to 15 students is organized around the exploration of a specific topic through reading, writing, research, and discussion. Commenting on his positive experiences teaching his honors first-year seminar, An Amish Paradise?, Professor David Weaver-Zercher says, “While some college students are rather shy about offering their own ideas, honors students are usually very eager to do so. They like to talk about what they’re thinking, listen to others’ arguments and challenges, and then refine their ideas further.”

Falcons’ Early Jolt Too Much For Arcadia In C’Wealth Championship

After the Messiah men’s soccer team dealt Arcadia University an 8-0 defeat during the regular season, most local soccer fans expected the two to meet under different circumstances and net a tighter result in Saturday’s Commonwealth Conference Championship game.

Somebody forgot to let the Falcons know their expectations.

Messiah (19-1) used an absolutely dominant first half to shut down Arcadia (13-6-3) on a crisp and cool autumn night, capturing the team’s fifth straight league championship via a 4-1 win at Shoemaker Field. Read more

The top-rated Messiah women’s soccer team turned in another dominating performance Saturday afternoon at Shoemaker Field, hanging a 4-0 defeat on Arcadia University and winning the program’s third straight Commonwealth Conference Championship in the process. Read more

Falcons Fend Off Lebanon Valley In C’Wealth ‘Ship; Trapp Gets 500

Consider it the ‘in’ thing to do at Messiah College.

Just six months after Falcons head softball coach Amy Weaver won her 300th career game in the NCAA Championship, field hockey leader Jan Trapp recorded her 500th career victory in Saturday’s Commonwealth Conference Championship - a 2-1 win over seventh-ranked Lebanon Valley College at Anderson Field.

Trapp’s milestone came in conjunction with Messiah’s 16th league title, as an incredible defensive effort preserved the Falcons’ fourth one-goal win of the 2009 season. Read more

Squads open ‘09-’10 season at home

Messiah put up some promising results in just its second ever season-opener Saturday (10/31), battling with the storied Gettysburg College program at Fredricksen Natatorium. Both the men and women put up several new program records. Results.

School starts with softball shindig

The Messiah campus converged on City Island on Sept 3rd, celebrating the Falcons’ national championship from the spring at a Harrisburg Senators baseball game. Ice cream was eaten and photos were taken. See it all here.
