Today I spent the morning at a local food bank, Project Share, where I was invited to lead the opening prayer. I stayed and helped distribute the food as well. It was a very good way of spending a Saturday morning! I hope to do it again soon!

Here is the prayer I chanted for the group of volunteers this morning:

O God, creator of us all,
From whom we come, to whom we go,
You look with pity on our hearts:
The weakness of our wills you know.

Forgive us all the wrong we do,
And purify each contrite soul.
What we have darkened, heal with light,
And what we have marred, make whole.

The love the law and prophets taught,
By you, O Lord, was sanctified:
Bless all our efforts, give us strength
To share the blessings you provide.

O God of mercy, hear our prayer,
And through our work may all be blest,
As in the circle of your love,
Created things all come to rest.
