First semester of the “Project I” course completes

Friday, January 11th, 2008

The same set of students who began our Integrated Projects Curriculum last spring with the first ever Group Orientation course have just recently finished up the first Project I course - the first of four they will take in their journey to graduation.

Project I students and the Engineering faculty met during finals week in December to discuss how the course went and brainstorm about how it can be improved in the future. Despite looking tired and ready for final exams to be over, the student group offered some valuable insights and suggestions for future Project courses, including a suggestion to have all IPC students keep a logbook throughout the four Project courses and a comment that when the student teams really got into the projects they became self-motivated and did not need their advisers to spur them on. Faculty, too, offered their perspectives on the integration of learning and project work, including advice on how to self-motivate and how to work as a team.

The first set of IPC students continue their journey in the spring semester with Project II, even as the second set come on board with the second Group Orientation course.
