Messiah’s Engineering Graduates

November 11th, 2009

Messiah Engineering graduates are well equipped for both the professional world and the challenge graduate-level education. Some of our graduates continue their education at universities like Penn State and Drexel. Those who do not continue on to graduate school find employmeet at organizations as diverse as SIM, Grundfos, and NASA. Many find work at large companies which have offices close to Messiah College, such as Mott’s Incorporated and Phoenix Contact. Some prefer smaller, local engineering firms, such as Master Solutions Incorporate and York International, while others choose to work elsewhere for large international corporations, including IBM, Black & Decker, and Ingersoll Rand.

Wherever Messiah Engineering alumni choose to work, they are well received. We received the following note from the supervisor of one of our graduates: “In all aspects of his work, [your alumnus] has exceeded and continues to exceed all expectations. I had never heard of Messiah College before; however, any résumé showing attendance at Messiah College will now find itself at the top of the pile.”

Special Education features

November 9th, 2009

Through the Education with Teaching Certification in PreK-4 curriculum, dual certification majors will acquire a foundation for effective thinking, systematic planning, decision making, and differentiating instruction in the classroom. The special education program builds on this foundation by introducing you to in-depth perspectives on learners with special needs, behavioral intervention strategies, approaches to assessment, developmental issues, and appropriate instructional strategies. You will have the opportunity to apply your developing knowledge of special education by participating in several field experiences in local public schools and community organizations in addition to the field experiences that are already built into the Education with Teaching Certification in PreK-4 certification program.

As an Economics Major . . .

November 4th, 2009

As a student majoring in economics, you’ll develop the analytical and quantitative skills needed to understand the interaction of market and nonmarket forces as they shape the behavior of society and impact human welfare. You’ll become increasingly aware of the need to understand the role of values and social institutions, and to more seriously consider the impact of human activity upon the physical environment in which humans function. The discipline of economics is often seen as the liberal arts component of any business major, but it also stands alone as an independent major. Anyone concerned about national and global public policy issues will find that these issues become unavoidably intertwined with economic analysis. At Messiah, you’ll learn more than the mechanics of economic analysis. Our ultimate concern, is that you understand how Christian faith shapes the way you see the economic process, and what it means to be stewards of God’s creation.
